I think we can all agree that Margot Robbie can already be considered as the definitive live-action version of Harley Quinn and there's a reason why she's found a great deal of success with the role which she began playing in 2016's Suicide Squad.

Despite all of her films garnering mixed reactions from fans and critics alike, Margot is still in a pretty great spot in the DC Extended Universe and it looks like she's not going away anytime soon.

Now, we might have to take that last statement back as the Australian actress revealed her plans to take a break from portraying the character. Apparently, Margot has been toying with the idea of distancing herself from the role since Birds of Prey because she finds it quite exhausting.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she explains: "It was kind of back-to-back filming Birds… and filming this, so I was kind of like, oof, I need a break from Harley because she's exhausting. I don't know when we're next going to see her. I'm just as intrigued as everyone else is."

Considering how demanding playing Harley Quinn is both physically and mentally speaking, you can't exactly fault Robbie for feeling the way she does about the character but I'm pretty sure her days as the iconic DCEU antihero are far from over because by the looks of things, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad universe will spawn at least two more sequels and it's well-documented that the two had a great time working together in the project.

The Suicide Squad hits HBO Max on August 5, 2021.
