Margot Robbie: Birds of Prey will have a Smaller Budget Compared to Other DCEU Movies; will be R-Rated

After the DCEU launched the first modern superheroine movie with Wonder Woman, they are now working on getting an all-female team-up called Birds of Prey. The film has Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) attached as producer, and she gives us an update on the film's status.

Talking to Flickering Myth, Robbie explains that Birds of Prey will be "different" from the other DCEU films, and says that it will be R-Rated, and have a smaller budget.

The way I see it, since the Birds of Prey only have heroes with minimal superpowers, they won't really be expected to take on world-ending scenarios—much like Superman or Wonder Woman; hence the smaller budget. It's also interesting that they would choose to give the film an R-rating, though.

Considering how Deadpool was a huge success despite its low budget and R-rating, I wonder how Birds of Prey is planning to compete. Sure I would be interested in seeing an all-woman team-up, but I guess it won't be a film to take your kids to see. For now, it seems like Wonder Woman is still playing the part of DCEU's role model for kids.

No specific release date has been set for Birds of Prey, but people are expecting a 2020 release.
