It feels like every year, more people are reading manga! The medium continues to get more and more popular, and some reports even suggest that manga is now outselling comic books!

While it can still be hard to get hold of some manga titles in the west, increasing demand is slowly leading to more ways for fans to read manga legally.

Now, another such platform is set to drop in the US market!

MangaPlaza has officially launched with one of the largest digital manga libraries out there. The platform offers fans the choice of purchasing chapters individually, or manga readers can enjoy much of their library for a monthly subscription of $6.99.

MangaPlaza is a digital manga store and subscription service that was first announced at the end of last year.

The site is founded by NTT Solmare, a Japanese company that also runs Comic C’moA, one of the largest online manga libraries in Japan with 35 million monthly users. They are also the company behind the popular Obey Me! mobile dating sim.

The MangaPlaza store will launch with over 2,000 titles translated to English, including popular titles like Attack on Titan, That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, Tokyo Revengers and Blue Period.

There will also be some manga exclusive to the platform, including the Obey Me! manga series.

Users will be able to view and read manga on the site, while you will also receive recommendations for other manga.

Users have two options on MangaPlaza: buying chapters individually or reading selected titles as part of a monthly subscription.

According to MangaPlaza, around 13,000 chapters will be available at launch as part of their subscription service. For $6.99 per month, users will have unlimited access to certain titles. They are currently offering a 7-day free trial if you want to explore this option for yourself.

Alternatively, MangaPlaza allows you to purchase chapters individually. Chapters will come at different prices, from $0.45 to $3.99.

As with many online manga services, most titles on MangaPlaza offer the first chapter at no cost.

Interestingly, MangaPlaza say that they hope more access to a wider range of titles will help combat the issue of piracy that hampers the industry.

NTT Solmare Corp's eBook Division Manager Shinya Sumida said at the end of last year that “as a member of the contents industry, we have an important role to play in stopping the circulation of pirated content. with the launch of MangaPlaza, we hope to help bring about change within this industry.”

MangaPlaza is available now in the US. You can follow them on Twitter @MangaPlaza_EN and Instagram @mangaplaza_en for further updates.
