There is little doubt that more people have been interested in Tokyo Revengers after the premiere of the anime last year. So it's no surprise that the manga has been selling like hotcakes and has now sold over 50 million copies, marking an excellent milestone for the franchise!
The official Tokyo Revengers Twitter account shared the news with fans. As it turns out, the manga has already exceeded 50 million copies in circulation following the latest reprint. It's an awesome feat considering that most of the sales were made after the premiere of the anime and the live-action film last year.
Back in September 2021, it was confirmed that there were 40 million copies of the manga in circulation. That means that over 10 million copies were sold in just four months since then.
There's a good reason why fans are buying the manga in bulk. The first season of the Tokyo Revengers anime concluded on a major cliffhanger and people were eager to find out what happened to Takemichi Hanagaki after he returned to the present. This is especially true for those who couldn't wait for Season 2, which is still in production.
So what can we expect in Tokyo Revengers Season 2? It has been confirmed that the second season will adapt the Christmas Showdown arc which also means the anime will expand on how the Black Dragons were absorbed by the Tokyo Manji Gang. More importantly, it means that Takemichi will get another chance at returning to the past and attempting to change the future.
Tokyo Revengers follows Takemichi Hanagaki as he tries to change the future by returning to the past with the help of his ex-girlfriend Hinata's younger brother Naoto Tachibana. To do so, Takemichi joins the Tokyo Manji Gang, the crime syndicate that murders the Tachibanas, and attempts to prevent the gang leader Mikey from turning violent.
