All hail the "technically" new king and ruler of Mandalore, Mando!

Although technically speaking, no coronation or rite happened and he is not yet recognized as such, Din Djarin is now, technically, the ruler of Mandalore.

The Darksaber is considered as the symbol of power in the planet of Mandalore. Whoever wields the Darksaber would, technically, hold the power in Mandalore and would, technically, be the ruler of the planet.

Following his victory in the epic clash in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, Mando now holds possession of the Darksaber after defeating Gideon in hand-to-hand combat using his Berksar Armor Staff which is the only thing that can cut through the Darksaber.

If there is anything taught to us by The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels animated series, it is that the weapon can only change possession through combat. Since Din Djarin defeated the previous holder of the Darksaber, Gideon Moff, Din Djarin is now, technically, king of Mandalore.

This puts Bo-Katan, the heir to the throne, in a position where she has to fight Mando and win the Darksaber to be able to take over the throne and become the ruler of Mandalore. The fans have expressed their support for the idea of Mando ruling over the planet. Many

Din Djarin becoming the wielder of the Darksaber and, technically, ruler of Mandalore puts him in a complicated scenario that would involve political machinations across the galaxy given that he is a Bounty Hunter.

With this, many plot holes may be fixed and covered up as the saga has a continuing problem with space politics.

In the movies, while it is the least interesting part of it, the original trilogy set aside politics for the betterment of the galaxy. When the prequels came, politics entered the story, and everyone kind of knows how that ended. The sequel tried to level the field and put a middle ground after the New Republic got destroyed, the classic Empire versus Rebels came back.

With The Mandalorian, everything could change just before the First Order brought the New Republic government to its knees. The radical shift in space politics happens between The Mandalorian (9 ABY) and The Force Awakens (34 ABY) so currently, the galaxy is still taking in the loss of Empire in Return of the Jedi.

Still being inherent in the status-quo, the Empire versus Republic is not really meant to last. The New Republic tries to maintain order but would eventually be ineffective which paves the way to the First-order wreaking havoc in the galaxy.

Mandalore has declared neutrality in the war of the Republic and Separatists. If the Mandalore took sides earlier uniting their warriors versus the Separatists, hypothetically, this would produce a different outcome for The Clone Wars.

If Din Djarin is to take over the planet, the underlying question is that can he unite the different clans and sects of Mandalorians and bring them into a united front?

With no hidden agenda and whatsoever for politics, how would Mando take on the mantle of becoming a ruler of Mandalore? Given that his vision is a safer galaxy for his people, could Mando's idealism change the galaxy?

The Mandalorian Season 3 will be released sometime in 2022. There is still time for the show's writers to iron out some matters like this given that after the end of the second season, a lot of things were introduced like Mando wielding the Darksaber.

With The Book of Boba Fett coming before the third season, anything can still happen.

The Mandalorian Season 1 and 2 are available on streaming via Disney+.
