There's no denying that the DC Extended Universe has been a convoluted mess and some even say that the franchise, which started in 2013 was doomed to fail since the beginning.

Now, the true status of Superman actor Henry Cavill, the man who started it all is still shrouded by mystery, and with Warner Bros. recently announced its plans of rebooting the character, the entire DCEU fandom has lost all hope that we'll see the supposed Man of Steel sequel that was once promised to the actor.

Now, despite all of the uncertainty surrounding Cavill's DCEU fate, Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer is confident that we'll see his version of Superman fly on the big screen once again and that Man of Steel 2 is still a possibility.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Goyer said: "I think so. I'm not involved in it right now. I've heard the same rumors you've heard, but I'm not plugged into it. I've stepped away almost entirely from comic book-related projects other than Sandman, which I don't really categorize as part of the normal DC universe."

Assuming that Cavill is still indeed under contract with WB, there's always a chance that he could make his triumphant return as Superman in a future DCEU project. Rumor has it that he's set to make a cameo appearance in Black Adam but the authenticity of that one has yet to be confirmed.

We're all aware that the studio is notorious for making bad creative decisions but they can't afford to lose someone like Cavill who is already considered by many as the definitive live-action Superman.

Meanwhile, Henry Cavill returns as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 2 this December.
