Major Hogwarts Legacy Reveal Could Be Coming Soon

It's been a while since we've heard anything about 'Hogwarts Legacy', the upcoming open-world game that's set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but now that could be set to change.

Ever since the official trailer for the game was conjured up on the Internet last year, 'Harry Potter' fans have been salivating at the prospect of being able to explore one of the richest worlds ever brought to us by the power of fiction. And it's fair to say that doing so is mischief we're willing to manage!

Unfortunately, though, not a great deal has been revealed since then - in fact, nothing has. Other than the trailer and the official website, very little is known about the game. While of course, that's not entirely true, as the trailer does reveal a lot, things have still gone quiet on 'Hogwarts Legacy'.

Nevertheless, that's the nature of the fantastic beasts that are video games - we know the title is coming, we just want to know as much about it as possible before it comes out! The agony of our impatience is akin to now knowing what House we're going to be sorted into!

But rumor has it that there's a possible reveal coming, as PlayStation recently announced that it will be holding a new 'State of Play' presentation on Wednesday (why do we suddenly feel like we've just received a letter of invitation to Hogwarts?!).

They haven't disclosed any gaming titles as part of the presentation, though, but they have confirmed that they will focus on 'third-party' games for the PS4 and PS5 consoles, and 'Hogwarts Legacy' happens to be such a game.

This news comes just weeks after PlayStation 'insider' Millie A hinted we could be getting a reveal for the game in October. Regarding the State of Play event, Millie A tweeted: "When I said this, I so badly wanted to say State of Play, but couldn't" - so it's likely this is in reference to the Wizarding World title.

With all that said, we will just have to wait until Wednesday to find out if anything happens, but it would be unwise for Sony not to start plugging the game, especially considering that 'Harry Potter' is an IP so enormous it even gives 'Star Wars' a run for its money. As for what a reveal could involve, it could be a new trailer, or possibly even actual gameplay footage.

You could say that 'Hogwarts Legacy' uses a Time-Turner, as it's set in the 1800s, long before the days of Harry and Voldemort. Players will be able to able to choose their houses and customize their own characters. But this barely scratches the surface at what we'll be able to do in the game.

We'll also be able to learn spells, cast them, hang out with other students and interact with and tame fantastic beasts. It has even been confirmed that players will be able to 'develop' their magical abilities, which will include combat skills and so on.

As for the game's environment and what will be yours to explore, the official website states that the game will also take players 'beyond' Hogwarts, to both 'new and familiar locations', which will include the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.

Set for release in 2022, 'Hogwarts Legacy' will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and the Xbox One family, which includes Xbox Series X and Xbox One X.

Potterheads can attend the State of Play event via Sony's YouTube and Twitch channels on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 pm PT.
