Major Fantastic Four Hero Rumored To Get Gender-Swapped in the MCU

Marvel’s Fantastic Four may seem like a far far future film, but recent rumors on castings have become very frequent, unraveling more ongoing plans in the reboot.

Aside from Star Wars actor Adam Driver being reportedly in final talks to play Reed Richards, Mila Kunis was previously presumed to be playing Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman.

However, the That 70s Show star has already debunked this by saying that having lunch with director Matt Shakman does NOT immediately put her in the reboot.

In line with this, scooper MyTimeToShineHello made a bold statement that Kunis is in fact not playing the Invisible Woman, but she is being eyed for a different role in Fantastic Four.

“They are looking at Jewish actors, both male AND female for The Thing in Fantastic Four. Mila Kunis is one of them,” the scooper claimed. You can check out the tweet below:

The new report suggests two things: the MCU is gender-swapping the major hero and Mila Kunis is in line to be the ‘female’ Thing.

It remains to be seen whether Marvel indeed goes forth with gender-swapping Thing in the reboot, so it is crucial to take this news with a grain of salt until they confirm or deny it.

Once this broke out, many MCU fans were hesitant at the idea of Ben being a woman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, another scooper, KC Walsh, claims that the Thing being a woman ‘makes more sense’ considering it is something women deal with on an everyday basis.

“Again, nothing about Ben having a vagina instead of a penis is disrespectful to his character. In fact, a huge part of The Thing is how ugly and rejected he feels based on his looks,” Walsh tweeted.

“Something WOMEN deal with 1000x more and is more relevant to them than a man.”

It would honestly be interesting to see how a female Thing would do in the reboot.

For now, though, nothing has been confirmed yet until Marvel officially announces their plans at the San Diego Comic-Con this coming July.

Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot is currently slated to premiere on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on this story!
