It goes without saying that James Rhodes has always played second fiddle to Tony Stark both in the comics and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it can't be denied that the character has always been reliable. Now, with Stark gone from the MCU, Rhodey will finally be given the opportunity to shine and by the looks of things, he'll finally get to be the main character 14 years after he made his debut in the first Iron Man film.

Don Cheadle has already signed on to appear in two confirmed MCU projects and one of them is getting a major upgrade. It turns out that the upcoming Armor Wars series which has long been in development is now being adapted into a full-length film. The project which is based on the comic arc of the same title that revolves around Iron Man's stolen tech.

Of course, considering Robert Downey Jr. is no longer in the franchise, the general belief right now is that Rhodey will take his place in the MCU version of the story. But what if we tell you that Iron Man could play a pivotal role in Armor Wars? According to a new theory, the series being turned into a feature film could set up a major comeback.

Grace Randolph speculates that the reason behind the Don Cheadle-led series being turned into a film might have something to do with RDJ's potential return to the franchise. Now, before you raise your eyebrows and question his possible comeback, the insider theorizes that Stark will return as an AI, kid.
