It has been a long wait but it looks like the Blade reboot is finally moving forward. These Birds Walk director Bassam Tariq is reportedly in final talks to helm the upcoming Mahershala Ali movie.

According to Deadline, Tariq is currently in negotiations to direct the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. Although a deal has reportedly not yet been made, Tariq is close to signing up for the project which has been searching for a director for several months.

Tariq is certainly an interesting choice considering that the filmmaker only has a handful of films to his name. He had previously worked on short films like Red Mountain Choir, Mogambo, and Ghosts of Sugar Land. His most recent project was the Riz Ahmed movie Mogul Mowgli.

So far, there are only three names officially attached to the Blade remake. Ali was confirmed to star as the titular vampire hunter during San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Since then, the project has added Stacy Osei-Kuffour to pen the script and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige will produce the movie.

It's still unclear what will happen with the Blade reboot. However, there is a possibility that Osei-Kuffour is still working on the screenplay and the project is still in early development. However, with Tariq onboard, there is a huge chance that things will be moving forward more quickly. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The Blade remake has not yet been given an official release date. However, there are speculations that the movie will premiere sometime in 2023.
