The Foxverse's X-Men film franchise failed to be consistent from the beginning especially its final two offerings X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix which ended up becoming critical and box office flops but still, it had its redeeming qualities and one of which is actor Michael Fassbender who impressed audiences with his phenomenal portrayal of the villainous Magneto.

While it's sad that his take on the iconic X-Men baddie may never be able to crossover to the Marvel Cinematic Universe considering the timeline differences and all that, a new report suggests that Fassbender could still be joining the billion-dollar franchise and his MCU future looks totally promising.

According to an exclusive scoop from Giant Freakin Robot, Michael is currently in negotiations with Marvel Studios to enter the franchise but not as Magneto. Instead, the Irish actor is being heavily considered to play another iconic villain in Victor von Doom aka Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four's biggest adversary.

It'd be weird seeing Fassbender as a different villain in the MCU but if there's one character he can totally pull off, it's definitely Doctor Doom. However, this one still remains a rumor for now but considering Kevin Feige officially announced plans for a Fanstatic Four reboot during Disney's 2020 Investor Day, it's safe to assume that they're already developing the project this early.

Meanwhile, plans for the X-Men reboot have yet to be discussed.
