After multiple delays, fans were starting to lose interest in The New Mutants, and a lot have deemed the movie an incoming disaster. What's interesting is, the latest trailers have been fantastic, and we have a new Attitude spot which puts the spotlight on Illyana Rasputin a.k.a. Magik.
With the Fox franchise having ended poorly with Dark Phoenix, it seems that New Mutants kind of just gave up when it came to reshoots and just let director Josh Boone stick to his original vision for the movie. The result is this very stylized looking film which puts a horrific twist on the "school for mutants".
Personally, I was one of the people who were highly pessimistic of this film, but my mind has honestly been changed after a look at the latest trailers. Maybe it's the fact that I know this can't lead to anything else anymore, but if the Marvel Fox films are going to have a final film, it should at least be something great. For all its ups and downs, we have Fox's X-Men franchise to thank for kickstarting the era of big budget comic book films.
20th Century Studios in association with Marvel Entertainment presents "The New Mutants," an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.
The New Mutants is set for a release on April 3.
