Magic: The Gathering Unstable Won An Award at DragonCon For Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy CCG or RPG

Magic: The Gathering's latest silver-bordered set, Unstable, became a huge hit when it was released last December. On top of John Avon's stunning full-art basic lands, Unstable featured incredibly fun mechanics and fantastically wacky artworks that players loved. It turns out that the set won an award at DragonCon this year, and Magic lead designer Mark Rosewater just found out about it.

Over on Twitter, Rosewater posted a photo of a trophy and apparently the trophy was for Best Science Fiction or Fantasy Miniatures, Collectible Card or Role-Playing Game. Check out the trophy:

Back in June, Rosewater explained why Unstable is successful, saying, "I think the previous Un-sets *were* successful. The difference with Unstable is we didn't overprint it. With numerous printings of Unstable and years of growth of the game (more than tripling in size), less Unstable was printed than Unhinged. Let that sink in."

Did you think Unstable deserves it? Have you tried playing Unstable draft or do you just like the fancy John Avon full-art basic lands? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
