Magic: The Gathering Online Championship & MCQ Details Announced

Today, Wizards of the Coast have made its April 2019 announcement for Magic: The Gathering Online and they include details for the Magic Online Championship, Magic Online format challenges, Standard MCQ Finals Saturday, Limited MCQ Finals Sunday, and the upcoming downtimes for the upcoming sets.

The Magic Online Championship will feature 24 qualified players who will battle for a $200,000 prize pool. It will take place from Friday to Sunday, May 17-19 at Wizards' HQ in Renton, Washington. The formats for this event include Standard and Modern Constructed, and War of the Spark Draft. The Vintage Super League of Randy Buehler and Athena Froelich will provide live video coverage at twitch.tv/magic.

MTGO is also giving players more ways to qualify for the Mythic Championship. On May 4, there will be a Standard MCQ Finals at 9 a.m. PT. The cost is 30 Event tickets of 300 Play Points, and the winner will receive an invitation to Mythic Championship Barcelona.

The Limited MCQ Finals will take place on Sunday, May 5. The set is War of the Spark and the cost is 1 Limited MCQ Finals Token. The winner will get an invite for Mythic Championship Barcelona.

Modern Horizons is also coming to Magic Online so the next downtime for Magic: The Gathering Online will be on June 5, 3 a.m. to noon PT/-7 from UTC; and the following downtime on July 2 will be for the Core 2020 release.
