Magic: The Gathering Just Used The Wrong Card Back With The Purple Color Again

Wizards of the Coast once again mistakenly used the wrong Magic: The Gathering card back image in their recent posts. This card back features the mythical sixth Magic color, purple.

The Hasbro publisher used this card back twice in the past week, and the first one was seen on this Magic: The Gathering Arena ad:

Wizards used the wrong Magic back image once again in their recent #FindYourChampion post.

They most likely downloaded this image after a Google image search, but don't they have a card back readily available from WotC's archives?

Last year, Wizards actually made the same mistake to promote the "Sol Ring" promo at MagicFest Las Vegas.

There are only five colors in the original MTG card back as the game only features five, but R&D at Wizards of the Coast actually considered a few options for how to tackle the new color but due to design limitations, they decided not to add it before. Back in 2007, Paul Sattosanti wrote about it on the official MTG website.
