Magic: The Gathering Arena to Add Amonkhet Remaster, Cube Draft & macOS Compatibility

Today, Wizards of the Coast has announced the changes coming with the next Magic: The Gathering Arena update this Thursday, including the addition of Player Draft and new Godzilla special series cards, but they also revealed what they're developing on, including Amonkhet Remaster, Cube Draft, and macOS compatibility.

Amonkhet Remaster

Amonkhet Remaster will bring back cards from the Amonkhet set and Hour ofDevastation. It's expected to arrive this summer. The developers of MTG Arena also announced that it's focusing on a Pioneer-focused set remasters.

Cube Draft

Just like the recent Cube Sealed event on MTG Arena, Cube Draft will let you play with a card pool of all the cards in Arena, but instead of opening six packs, Cube Draft will let you draft with other players, and there's no concept of rarity, so the packs will have a lot of exciting rares. The Cube Draft will be a phantom event (meaning you don't get to keep the cards).

MacOS Compatibility

Wizards of the Coast is working with Skybox Labs to make MTG Arena available for macOS client, and the game is expected to be available this summer, but they noted that they have to do their conversion to 64-bit client first, which is expected to come with the June 2020 update.

WotC also announced that Historic Anthology 3 will be avaialble this May, and they are working to bring MTG Arena to mobile this year.

Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths is set to launch on Magic: The Gathering Arena on April 16 with the latest update, for tabletop play in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong on April 17, and for tabletop play everywhere else on May 15.
