Netflix finally dropped the news when Magic: The Gathering animated series would be arriving on their streaming platform and with the excitement of a lot of the players of the game with an upcoming show, they also announced who would voice the lead role, Gideon Jura, and it would be none other than Brandon Routh.
Brandon Routh, known for his roles in the Legends of Tomorrow and Superman in Superman Returns, comes back to the screen, but this time as the voice of the lead character in the upcoming animated series of Magic: The Gathering on the streaming giant, Netflix. In an exciting announcement released on Netflix Geeked Twitter account, they proudly introduced Brandon Routh as Gideon Jura.
The announcement came with a video from Routh himself expressing his excitement for the upcoming project and he shared the news saying, "Greeting Magic fans! I'm Brandon Routh, and I play Gideon in the upcoming Magic: The Gathering animated series coming to Netflix in 2022."
He added, "For those of you who don't know, Gideon is known for being the strong guy who always stands up for what's right, just, and isn't afraid to fight. Now I understand why they hired me for this."
Routh's excitement on the role has been formed ever since he was 16-years-old when he first played the game and he shared that he has been a huge fan of Magic: The Gathering since then. Routh is no stranger to this as well since he already voiced a character before in Magic, MTG Arena.

Magic: The Gathering is a tabletop and digital collectible card game which has been in existence for almost three decades. It is created by Richard Garfield and released by a subsidiary of Hasbro, Wizards of the Coast. The game continued to show popularity over the years and it even extended to mobile and PC from the original print version and with a variety of formats.
The upcoming animated series will be heavily based on the game and it is expected to introduce all-new characters alongside the Planeswalkers and other familiar names from the game. Netflix's goal is to make the game and the series are known across fans and players from different generations who love the game.
Not only that, to give the viewers more context on the bond between Gideon Jura and Jace Beleren, Django Wexler, a highly acclaimed fantasy author, would be publishing a new novel which will be the prequel of the upcoming series and it will be launching alongside the show.
Magic: The Gathering Animated Series is coming in 2022 only on Netflix!
