Luke Cage Star Mike Colter On Whether The Series Would Return

Marvel fans were pretty devastated last year. Netflix went on a cancellation spree on Marvel TV's various series, axing shows like Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and the critically-acclaimed Daredevil.

It's been months since Luke Cage's been on the chopping board, but now Colter finally gives his take on what was happening behind-the-scenes of the series right before the show's hocking cancellation. Speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com, Colter admits that in hindsight, Netflix's decision was pretty clear.

"It was bittersweet," Colter explained in his interview with the publication. "It kinda did catch me off guard. I don't think I was as shocked as most people were because I was a little closer it."

Now that, it's been months since the cancellation, Colter says he can remember all the red flags.

"There were some things, some telltale signs, that were not quite feeling right for me," the Luke Cage actor continued "Although we had an internal pick up, amongst a certain amount of people who were close to the project, and we were moving forward with the writing and writing the group writers room, et cetera. There was a lot of stalling. There was a lot of things that didn't feel quite right. Then, deadlines. One deadline would come and it would go. Another deadline would come, it would go."

Now, it looks like Colter no longer expects a third season for the series. Fans might continue holding on to the hope that they'll get to see the Power Man on the small screen again, but the odds seem pretty low, especially since Netflix put a clause in its contract with Luke Cage prohibiting the show's characters from appearing in any other show or network.
