Lucasfilm is sending Star Wars enthusiast and popular YouTuber Star Wars Theory some love by giving him an all-access pass to Star Wars Celebration Chicago.
For those who don't know, Star Wars Theory is the creative mind behind the Darth Vader fan film Shards of the Past, which went viral a few months ago. Before he released it, he reached out to Lucasfilm to get their approval and was given the go-ahead, but wasn't allowed to monetize it.
Disney and Warner Chappell then claimed copyright due to the score that was used. They apparently made some money off the video, which became their intellectual property, but released the claim not long after as many Star Wars fans reacted negatively to the move.
Now, it looks like the situation is much better. In a new video, Star Wars Theory revealed that he was on a phone call with Lucasfilm and that the studio is giving him an all-access media badge to take part in the major panels at Star Wars Celebration Chicago including the one for Star Wars: Episode IX. LEGO has also expressed interest in working with Star Wars Theory.
"I am very excited for this. I couldn't be more thankful to Lucasfilm and LEGO, and I can't wait to share all of this with you guys," he said in the video, which you can watch below.
Fans were very happy for him especially since the title and thumbnail of the video hinted that it was bad news. As a passionate Star Wars fan, the YouTuber has many fans impressed by his love for the franchise and his talent, which was on full display on the Darth Vader fan film. Shards of the Past has racked up 9.4 million views at the time of writing with a new sequel in the works.
As one fan cleverly put it, Lucasfilm has granted Star Wars Theory the rank of master, so it looks like the community is going to see a lot more of him.
Star Wars Celebration Chicago takes place on April 11 to 15.
