Over the last couple of months, we've witnessed the clash between Gina Carano and Disney over the actress's social media behavior and it's no secret that the ex-Mandalorian actress has ill feelings towards the House of Mouse and Lucasfilm for unceremoniously ousting her from the Star Wars universe last February. Carano recently called out and exposed the company for bullying her and a lot of other talent and employees that have refused to verbalize their sentiments.
Now, in a surprising turn of events, Lucasfilm is pushing for the former mixed martial arts fighter to get an Emmy Award nomination. Apparently, marketing materials for Lucasfilm's "For Your Consideration" push at the upcoming awarding spectacle taking place in September have leaked over the weekend with Carano being listed under the "Best Supporting Actress" category for her portrayal of Cara Dune in the hit Star Wars spinoff show.
What's even more surprising is the fact that she's the only actress from the show Lucasfilm seems to be campaigning for which is weird considering how chaotic things have been between them. It's also worth mentioning that other stars like Katee Sackhoff, Rosario Dawson, and Ming-Na Wen who could easily be contenders for the award were omitted in the said push. The said poster has yet to be shared on their official social media handles but you can check it out here:
Of course, I don't want to jump right to conclusions but I think I'm somehow sensing a pattern here. To those unaware, rumor has it that Gina and Disney are currently in talks for the actress' potential comeback in The Mandalorian Season 3 and reports claim that the company is now adamant about reinstating her. It's also worth mentioning that just last week, Carano participated in the annual May The Fourth celebration, a move which took a lot of fans by surprise. What's going on?
Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to begin filming soon.
