Lucasfilm Reportedly Eyeing Ryan Reynolds for Taika Waititi’s Upcoming Star Wars Movie

Lucasfilm may have been very careful not to reveal its plans for the Star Wars franchise now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has officially closed out the Skywalker saga, however, the rumor mill has been busy chugging up various reports about the galaxy far, far away.

Not only has there been talk about rumored appearances in the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, but it seems like the Star Wars news cycle has a new leak saying that Lucasfilm is eyeing Deadpool star Ryan Reynold's for Taika Waititi's upcoming Star Wars movie.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, sources close to Lucasfilm says that the studio is looking to cast the Merc with a Mouth actor in an unspecified role in Taika Waititi's new Star Wars project. It seems like the studio is hoping to make use of Reynold's popularity and add his brand of humor in its highly-anticipated Waititi-directed Star Wars movie.

Could this mean that Lucasfilm is hoping to develop an R-rated Star Wars movie with Waititi and Reynolds on board? Details about the film have yet to be revealed, so we'll have to keep our eye out on confirmation and updates.

It isn't entirely surprising to hear that Lucasfilm would want Reynolds on board the future of Star Wars. The Deadpool star has been doing very well, especially with the Merc with a Mouths' film franchise. While we're interested in seeing Reynolds join Star Wars, we wonder whether the actor would have time to squeeze in his schedule with upcoming projects like Deadpool 3.

The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
