Lucasfilm Reportedly Developing Star Wars: The Clone Wars Sequel

After its heartbreaking cancellation in 2014, Star Wars: The Clone Wars came back to life this year with a seventh season on Disney+, allowing Star Wars showrunner Dave Filoni to give the critically-acclaimed Star Wars series proper closure.

Now that The Clone Wars has come to an end, a new report suggests that Lucasfilm may be developing a sequel to the hit animated series.

According to a report by Kessel Run Transmissions, a new Clone Wars sequel is in early development over at Lucasfilm. The site isn't quite certain just yet, but it posits that the series would follow fan-favorite characters like Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano after the events of the seventh season of The Clone Wars.

You can check out the report down below:

As exciting as this Clone Wars sequel might be, we advise fans to take the report with a large grain of salt. Not only are Star Wars rumors a dime a dozen, but Kessel Run Transmissions admits that it isn't entirely sure what the sequel series might focus on.

Of course, there's a lot of stories that this Clone Wars sequel could explore. After all, there's a lot of space between The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels – remember, Rex and Ahsoka both appeared in the latter Star Wars series.

Disney may want another Star Wars animated series after the success of The Clone Wars. Aside from Star Wars: The Mandalorian and the seventh season of The Clone Wars, there isn't that much new material to keep Star Wars fans occupied on Disney+.

What do you think? Will we be getting a Clone Wars sequel? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
