Luke Skywalker made his hair-raising arrival in The Mandalorian Season 2's final episode to much fanfare so it was only natural for Lucasfilm to capitalize on the hype his MandoVerse cameo was able to generate.

In The Book of Boba Fett, the famed Jedi Master returned but unlike his involvement in The Mandalorian, his appearance seemed less significant, except for the plot revolving around Grogu abandoning his Jedi teachings to reunite with Din Djarin.

Well, it turns out that Luke was originally set to be given a more substantial role in the divisive Disney+ series. In fact, Mark Hamill's stand-in actor Graham Hamilton filmed scenes that ultimately went straight to the bin.

In the Disney Gallery special centered on The Book of Boba Fett (via Star Wars Meg), it was revealed that Luke was supposed to have a more substantial role in the series.

One deleted sequence featuring the Jedi Master would have apparently seen him heading to Tatooine to speak with the bounty hunter and Fennec Shand at Boba Fett's Palace, the former lair of Jabba the Hutt.

We're not quite sure why Lucasfilm decided to scrap it altogether but it would've served as a little nod to Return of the Jedi where Luke also visited Jabba's complex.

Intriguingly, the timing of this report comes just a number of days after rumors circulated online that Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy wants to stop using the Luke Skywalker character for future Star Wars projects.

Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed yet but Luke's scrapped scenes in The Book of Boba Fett may actually be indicative of his future in the franchise moving forward.

All episodes of The Book of Boba Fett are available to stream on Disney+.
