Lucasfilm is Reportedly Set to Imitate the MCU's Connectivity in its Star Wars Expanded Universe

Lucasfilm is set to incorporate the Star Wars Expanded Universe. The franchise is experiencing some dwindling returns after the sequel trilogy ended last 2019. Star Wars has looked in the past to see if it will continue the franchise.

In a new Geekosity article, Lucasfilm is setting out to connect its Star Wars Expanded Universe, much like how Marvel does its connectivity. After the sequel trilogy ended, the path continued with The Mandalorian. The Disney+ series is currently in production for its third season.

The Mandalorian Season 2 ended with the appearance of Luke Skywalker. Luke took Grogu so he could begin his training. Marvel is releasing some Star Wars comics wherein everything is considered canon. Luke's hand seemed to have been cut off by Darth Vader.

This story isn't addressed in The Rise of the Skywalker film but the artifact has been at the center of various stories in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. In 2014, Lucasfilm removed the Star Wars books and comics from being canon, rebranding them as Star Wars Legends. However, moving forward the Star Wars franchise will include more of the Expanded Universe.

Aside from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka is another Disney+ project that has been confirmed. This series seemingly dropped more hints at the connectivity of the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

Ahsoka even dropped the name of Grand Admiral Thrawn when she was in The Mandalorian. The series plot remains unknown but the title card is similar to the style of the Veil of the Force.

Executive producers Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau have their own end game planned for the project. This incorporation of the Expanded Universe to the main franchise can drastically have an effect on the entire Star Wars history.
