SM Entertainment officially announced the exit of Lucas from the groups NCT and WayV to pursue solo endeavors. And to formally bid goodbye to his fans, the idol penned an emotional letter to them.

Before his departure, Lucas was embroiled in a number of controversies. He reportedly cheated while in a relationship and was accused of gaslighting.

SM Entertainment Announces Lucas' NCT, WayV Exit

In a statement released Wednesday, May 10, the company started by introducing itself and revealing it wanted to notify fans about the 24-year-old's future activities.

"As a result of a serious discussion between Lucas and the agency, it has been decided that Lucas will leave NCT and WayV and instead pursue solo activities," it said, via AllKpop.

"The decision was reached based on the belief that it was the best option to respect the other members and the fans, and thus, we ask for the understanding of all fans who have supported Lucas as a member of NCT and WayV," it continued.

Lucas will no longer promote as a part of NCT and WayV. Instead, he will be actively promoted as a solo artist.

"We would like to deliver our thanks to the fans for their endless love toward our artists and ask that you continue to show your attention and support," the label ended its note.

Lucas Wrote a Letter for Fans

After SM released a statement about Lucas' NCT and WayV departure, the rapper wrote a letter to his fans.

"Today, I have an important announcement to share with you," he started.

"After much deliberation and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to part ways with the group NCT and WayV," he explained. "I sincerely feel sorry for the members, and it is with a heavy heart that I leave behind a long-standing friendship."

The model continued that it had been eight years since he first joined the groups' members. Hence, he was thankful for their care and support.

"I will cherish these memories and never forget. I hope that the members will remember me as Huang Xuxi, not just Lucas," he added. "I genuinely love them and will always support them from the bottom of my heart."

Lucas confessed that it took him time before making this important decision in his career, believing it was the best thing to do.

"Moving forward, I intend to muster the courage to face the fans who have been waiting for me and to pursue individual endeavors," he stated. "I believe the best way to repay the fans who support me is by continuing to deliver outstanding performances."

Lucas promised to be more mature and make himself better this time.

"Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the fans and everyone who has continually supported me," he ended his note.
