LOTR: Rings of Power Star Reveals One Important Identity Clue About The Stranger

What a character constantly wears in a particular series and era of their life often depicts and gives away what their role is supposed to do, much like with Star Wars’ Luke Skywalker sporting black. In the case of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, show star Daniel Weyman says that fans missed one important key detail that reveals the identity of his character, The Stranger, in the series.

As the series progressed, fans formed their theories behind The Stranger’s identity being the Dark Lord Sauron (but was actually Halbrand) or Gandalf. However, now that the series has ended, he was actually revealed to be an Istari, otherwise known as a wizard.

In a recent interview with TVLine, The Stranger actor Daniel Weyman reveals a subtle clue throughout Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power behind his character identity being an Istari reveal.

“I don’t know whether people have noticed, but the costume changes slightly over the course of the season. The fact that they were surrounding The Stranger meant that they subtly changed and altered themselves. It’s like they all got pulled in, and so it goes from being a very big, wild costume to being more of a costume of an Istari.”

Now that Season 1 has built its world of Middle-earth, The Rings of Power Season 2 is set to push forward a new and exciting unraveling and escalation of events. Even though The Stranger’s identity as a wizard has been revealed, it remains to be seen what more his role can contribute in the story, including if he is an early version of an existing wizard from The Lord of the Rings lore. Although the finale did tease that there is more to expect from The Stranger traveling to an unexplored area of Middle-Earth that hasn’t been seen before. Expect more updates on this story soon.
