Loki Star Jonathan Majors Reveals Unexpected Way He Got Kang Role in Ant-Man 3

Most actors need to go through several auditions before they could land their dream role. However, Jonathan Majors clearly isn't "most actors." The Loki star has just revealed the surprising way he landed the coveted role of Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Back in September 2020, it was confirmed that Majors will be taking a lead role in Ant-Man 3 and several reports suggested that the Lovecraft Country star had been cast as Kang the Conqueror. Amazingly, fans didn't have to wait long to see Majors in action as he played a Kang Variant known as He Who Remains in Loki.

But was it difficult to land such a promising role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Majors didn't break a sweat. In fact, he didn't even need to audition to be cast as Kang in two MCU projects.

Majors recently spoke to TotalFilm where shared some unexpected details on how he nabbed the part.

"The Marvel team has their ways," Majors said. He then elaborated on how it all went down.

"It's very much like getting a role in drama school. They're just watching. You don't audition for roles. You get into drama school, then the dean will watch what you're doing. If they wanted you, you get tapped. That's kind of what happened," Majors said.

It's an amazing revelation considering that several actors probably auditioned for the role. However, Marvel has always had an eye for choosing the right star for a certain part. After seeing Majors in Loki, there is little doubt that his character will only get more interesting in Ant-Man 3.

Ant-Man 3 will be directed by Peyton Reed. The sequel will bring back Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne. Kathryn Newton will be introduced as Scott's daughter Cassie Lang, who was previously played by Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania will premiere on February 17, 2023.
