Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Script is Almost Done

It was announced earlier this month that Disney was working on adapting Lilo & Stitch to live-action, and it looks like things are going ahead of schedule for the movie. News just in, the first draft of the script is almost done.

This news comes from DisInsider's Skyler Shuler:

So far, no director has been announced for the project, but we do know that Aladdin's Dan Lin and Jonathan Erlich are attached to produce. It also hasn't been clarified if Lilo & Stitch will be getting a theatrical release or a release in Disney's upcoming streaming service which launches next year.

The original film was directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois who have since moved on to work for Dreamworks. The two are behind the highly successful How to Train Your Dragon franchise, and the last installment of that film, HTTYD: The Hidden World, is set to come out next year.

Personally, I think Lilo & Stitch is already a perfect film on its own, and it would be hard to translate into live-action. If the show is aiming for a release in the streaming service, I'm worried that Disney won't cough up the cash to give us a decent CGI Stitch. If anything, it could end up like those direct-to-video Scooby Doo live-action films which make the theatrical version of Scooby look like Thanos-level CGI.

No release date has been announced for the live-action Lilo & Stitch.
