Linda Ronstadt is maybe the next artist to experience a resurgence after HBO’s The Last of Us used her song “Long, Long Time” on its latest episode with the same title.

That said, take a look at Ronstadt’s career and the net worth she has with her over a four-decade career.

Linda Ronstadt’s Successful Career

The now-76-year-old star can almost sing everything, from light opera to country to rock and Latin music. She can work on a wide range of genres and received several accolades, like 10 Grammys, three AMAs, and an Emmy Award, among many others.

A number of her albums have been certified gold, platinum, and multiplatinum. She also received several nominations from different music award-giving bodies.

Aside from the nods, she received the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award from the Latin Recording Academy in 2011 and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy in 2016.

She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 and received the National Medal of Arts and Humanities in the same year.

In addition, Ronstadt received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris as a trio in 2019. She was among the five honorees who received the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements.

However, come 2000, she started to reduce her activity due to her deteriorating singing voice. Her last full-length album came in 2004, while her final live concert was in 2009. She announced her retirement in 2011 and later revealed she could no longer sing because of a degenerative condition, later determined as progressive supranuclear palsy.

Linda Ronstadt’s Possible Resurgence

Though Ronstadt’s “Long, Long Time” may have the chance to become another trend, just like Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” and The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck,” it can’t be denied that The Last of Us knows how to choose the perfect song for an episode.

The song’s lyrics turn out critical for the series’ third episode. The song played on the piano when Bill (Nick Offerman) let Frank (Murray Bartlett) into his house after being isolated for three years and revealing his loneliness.

The track marked the beginning of their romance, while the song could be heard in the background. “I think I'm gonna love you for a long, long time. I think I'm gonna miss you for a long, long time.”

Showrunner Craig Mazin revealed that the whole idea stemmed from hitting the highlights of the moments in their lives where “love means something different.”
