New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2023 saw a lot of anime announcements, including a new project from OLM. The studio’s upcoming anime is titled Let’s Play, and it might just be OLM’s next Odd Taxi.
Unlike Odd Taxi, this upcoming anime is not an original as it’s based on a webcomic. Based on the source material’s story, it is definitely going to be an intriguing anime that’s unlike most of OLM’s other works.
OLM’s Next Project Is an Anime Based on a Webcomic
NYCC 2023 featured big reveals, including titles like Dragon Ball Daima. Because of this, the new OLM anime, Let’s Play, has flown under the radar, but anime fans looking for something different may want to check it out.
The Let’s Play webcomic was originally launched in 2016 on the Korean platform Webtoon. In 2022, the comic’s creator, Leeanne M. Krecic aka Mongie, shared that the webcomic will stop being updated.
At NYCC though, it was revealed that aside from the anime, the comic will return in Fall 2025, though the platform is still undecided.
While many anime fans may not be familiar with the series, its interesting story promises to make for a good anime.
The series follows a young creative who dreams of creating video games. This dream of hers is in danger though as her first game gets a scathing review from a popular streamer.
To make matters worse, this streamer becomes her new neighbor. The story won’t be about fighting and drama between the two characters though, as there will be some romantic tension.
On top of this, the series also explores some deeper themes such as depression and anxiety.

Upcoming Let’s Play Anime Might Become OLM’s New Odd Taxi
OLM is a long-running anime studio that is best known for working on Pokemon, Yo-kai Watch, and Komi Can’t Communicate.
Despite being known primarily for working on big franchise projects, OLM has released some unique shows over the years, one of which is Odd Taxi.
This original anime aired in 2021, and it got rave reviews from critics and fans for its animation and well-thought-out story.
Let’s Play may not be an original anime, but its rom-com premise and deeper themes mean it has all the makings of a unique entry in OLM’s works.
Anime fans will need to wait a while for the new anime though, as there’s no word yet on a release date.
