With a few more weeks left, Star Wars is releasing lots of promotional material for The Rise of Skywalker; including trailers, TV spots, and stills from the film. However, fans haven't seen much of Leia and Luke in the posters yet. But that's about to change with the new IMAX poster.
The Rise of Skywalker recently got a new IMAX poster which spotlights the beloved characters along with Rey and Kylo Ren. The photo shows Daisy Ridley's Rey at the center since she is the protagonist of the film after all. On her left, Carrie Fisher's Leia is seen, while Mark Hamill's Luke is on the other. Looming just above him is Adam Driver's Kylo Ren.
The poster seems to be quite confusing for some fans though. The artwork seemed to have merged Luke and Kylo a bit weirdly, since fans initially thought that Kylo's hair is shown seemingly burning and coming out from the helmet. However, this is actually Luke's hair, seeing that the actor is shown facing down. In addition, it's quite odd for some to put Luke on the Dark Side of the poster since the photo is divided with both the Dark and Light side.
Overall, it's a decent poster that effectively shows off the trilogy. Especially since four of the key characters in the film are included, all the while hinting at their connection with one another. It makes sense that Luke is on the other side since he is somewhat connected to Kylo, and at the same time, it helps with the composition to balance out the things in the poster.
That being said, finally having Luke and Leia in the Episode IX poster is truly epic, and will surely get tons of fans excited for the movie.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20.
