Lee Jung Jae’s Squid Game 2 Talent Fee Is Reportedly $700,000 Per Episode

Besides being one of Hallyu’s top stars and among the highest-paid K-drama actors, Lee Jung Jae is reportedly getting a hefty amount of talent fee in Squid Game 2.

As Netflix and drama officials are gearing up for the highly anticipated sequel, various media outlets revealed that the lead star is set to receive around 700,000 USD per episode.

Lee Jung Jae’s Pay Per Episode in Squid Game 2 Costs 700,000 USD

In a report, Lee Jung Jae will get 1 billion won as his appearance fee per episode for Squid Game.

It means that if the upcoming sequel is a nine-part episode K-drama, the same number of episodes in season 1, the award-winning actor will receive around 9 billion KRW or 6.3 million USD for the whole season of Squid Game 2 alone.

On the other hand, director Hwang Dong Hyuk is reportedly receiving a significant amount of incentive pay for the upcoming sequel.

As for the production budget for Squid Game 2, it is estimated at around 100 billion KRW or 70 million USD, which is more than three times than ​​Netflix reportedly spent in season 1 with 21 million USD.

However, in a report cited by Xports News, a Netflix official shared that nothing has been confirmed yet since “the script for Squid Game 2 is still in the process of being written.”

The same goes for the producer of the series, Cyron Pictures, saying that “there is no decision yet regarding the actor's fee.

The South Korean top star bagged Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for SAG Awards 2022, the 2022 Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and his recent Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The said award is for his outstanding performance as player 456 Seong Gi Hoon in the Squid Game, who is set to reprise his role in the second season.
