Lee Jung Jae expressed what he felt after being cast in the Disney+ series, Star Wars: The Acolyte.

Following the success of the Netflix series Squid Game, Lee Jung Jae made his directorial debut in the spy action film Hunt. His popularity overseas continuously skyrocketed and he formally signed a contract with Creative Artists Agency to help him with his overseas schedules and deals.

For his first project in the US, he was cast to play the male lead character in a Star Wars series.

Lee Jung Jae Expresses Gratitude After Scoring Star Wars Series’ Lead Role

During the Disney Content Showcase at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Lee Jung Jae’s recorded video message was played in which he delivered a short but heartfelt message about his new project.

According to The Korea Times, Lee Jung Jae showed how happy he feels to become part of Disney’s growing family. He will play the lead role in the Leslye Headland-directed flick.

"I star in Lucasfilm's original series 'The Acolyte,' I am happy to become a member of the Disney family. I want you to look forward to 'The Acolyte,’” he said.

Lee Jung Jae will appear in the Disney+ series alongside Amandla Stenberg and Dafne Keen. It was revealed that the new series would highlight the emergence of dark side powers amid the High Republic Era’s final days.

Details about Lee Jung Jae’s character are yet to be publicized.

Lee Jung Jae Shares What To Expect on Squid Game Season 2

While focusing on his overseas career, Lee Jung Jae is also busy preparing for the next installment of his Netflix series, Squid Game.

In his interview with GQ Magazine, the award-winning actor revealed that he would show the darker side of him in the next season.

“I feel like Squid Game isn’t solely meant to provide a social message to society. Ultimately, it’s meant to deliver dreams and hopes to the audience. Of course, it was a fun television show that helped us ask deep questions, but at the end of the day, it's also entertainment,” he said.

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk has not set Squid Game 2 release date yet. But he expects it to be released by the end of 2023 or 2024.
