since Disney completed its merger with 21st Century Fox, Marvel fans have been looking forward to the X-Men's arrival into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, a leaked image from the set of one of Marvel's new projects for Disney+ reveals the mutant's arrival in Marvel's comic book movie franchise.
Marvel fan the_geek_power just recently took to Instagram to share a leaked photo reportedly taken from the set of Marvel's new series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While it isn't a surprise to see set photos making the rounds online, this new image seems to tease the arrival of the X-Men in the MCU.
In the picture, fans get to see the flag of Madripoor making an appearance on the set of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. For those who aren't familiar, Madripoor is an island that plays an important role in X-Men comics. Like the fictional country of Wakanda in the MCU's first-ever all-black comic book movie Black Panther, Madripoor has "always remained independent" and the island is often described in comics as a "fiercely defended haven."
Does this mean that we'll get to see a few mutants in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier? Perhaps not. However, this may indicate that Marvel is planning to lay the groundwork for the introduction of the X-Men into the MCU. Let's cross our fingers and wait and see.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year.
