A recent report suggested that Josh Brolin might potentially star in the highly-anticipated Lanterns series as a fan-favorite Green Lantern character.

DC Studios and HBO have been working on the upcoming DCU series that will focus on John Stewart and Hal Jordan's investigation of a murder. Tom King, Damon Lindelof, and Chris Mundy are involved as the executive producers.

Fans have been anticipating which actors they will cast to play the titular Green Lantern characters who will be leading the series. Now, it looks like they might have found one of its main stars.

According to insider Jeff Sneider, Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in HBO/DCU's Lanterns series.

It is unknown whether the Oscar nominee is close to agreeing to star in the project or he'll end up passing on the role.

So far, DC Studios has not confirmed the claims that were made in the report.

Brolin's potential casting as Hal Jordan might surprise many fans since he is not the first actor they might think of in the role and some might have assumed that they would cast a younger actor.

However, the DCU's take on Hal Jordan will reportedly be portrayed as a veteran member of the Green Lanterns Corps. DC Studios is apparently looking for actors in their 40s or 50s for the role.

Most fans also know that Brolin is no stranger to the comic book world as he played Thanos in the MCU, Cable in Deadpool 2, and Jonah Hex in the 2010 titular movie.

It would be interesting to see whether Brolin's casting in the DCU series will end up happening as fans are eagerly waiting for an official update as well as the casting of the other Green Lantern, John Stewart.

There is no release window set yet for Lanterns, but HBO recently gave a series order to the project.
