Kylo Ren And Rey Stand Back-To-Back In New Star Wars: Episode IX Banner

The marketing campaign for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hasn't been hitting at full force just yet, but new images have begun trickling out online as fans anticipate the arrival of the first full trailer for the third and final entry in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy.

A new banner for The Rise of Skywalker has been making the rounds on Reddit last weekend, showcasing Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in a back-to-back pose. The image was posted on r/StarWarsLeaks last Saturday as a promo banner for Episode IX.

The promo banner doesn't really give fans new details about the movie, but we can't help appreciate the new banner for its aesthetic. It's pretty interesting to see Kylo Ren's red lightsaber dividing the image into two.

Kylo Ren might have chosen to continue down the path of the Dark Side in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, however, fans are still holding on to the hope that the wayward son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) finds his way back to the light in Episode IX.

The D23 trailer for The Rise of Skywalker also featured a clip of Rey in dark robes with a red two-edged lightsaber, hinting at the Jakku Orphan's turn towards the Dark Side. We can't be sure yet whether it was all simply a Force vision or if it was a sign of Rey swaying towards the Dark Side, but we can't wait to see what becomes of the Jakku Orphan in Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
