Krysten Ritter Thinks Defenders Season 2 Won't Happen

The Defenders might have had some fun fight scenes and character moments but most people will agree that it was a hot mess towards the end. A hot mess that was fun to watch but it had a lot of problems, which is why fans aren't in a hurry to get a second season. Netflix and Marvel are currently focusing on each team member's solo series and if Krysten Ritter is right, it looks like it will stay that way.

Ritter, the title star of Jessica Jones, spoke with Vulture about her show and the aforementioned crossover. The actress stated that she had a lot of fun with the crossover but feels like another one isn't being planned. However, if another Defenders crossover is going to be made, Ritter says she would love to be in it.

"Well, I think Jessica was pretty well received. People were excited to see her again, so that made us happy because Jessica is the next up. Y'know, I had a great time doing The Defenders and honestly, it was such a good experience that I would even do it again. I don't think we are doing it again. It was never intentioned to do it again, but, you know, if I was given another opportunity, I would. My heart is with my show because of the subject matter and because of the great drama that we get to do and the personal issues that we explore. For me, that is more the type of content that I enjoy as a viewer and as a performer. My heart is in Jessica Jones, but I did have a great time doing The Defenders with the guys. We had a good time. It is what it is."

If a second Defenders series is being planned, let's hope that a better plot is planned. While the series started with plenty of promise, it quickly fell apart when Elektra became the villain, as her motivations made little to no sense and the final battle with Daredevil could have been better.

The Defenders can be streamed on Netflix. Jessica Jones season two comes out tomorrow on Netflix.
