The Clone Club will soon be active and has a new member, Lucy. Krysten Ritter joins the offshoot Orphan Black: Echoes, set in the world of the 2010s science-fiction drama.
Known for his roles in Breaking Bad and Jessica Jones, fans may see a different Ritter in the upcoming series. So, what role will she play in Orphan Black: Echoes?
Krysten Ritter Joins Orphan Black: Echoes
According to TVLine, Ritter, who will also serve as the show’s executive producer, will play the role of Lucy, who has an “unimaginable origin story and will try to find her place in the world.”
The 40-year-old star came to prominence when she played the role of Jane Margolis in the hit AMC series Breaking Bad. She furthered her career when she led the Marvel series, Jessica Jones.
Her past acting credits include Don’t Trust the B—-in Apartment 23, Veronica Mars and Nightbooks.
She also directed, and executive produced the supernatural YA series The Girl in the Woods and would be next seen in HBO’s miniseries, Love and Death, with Elizabeth Olsen.
Ritter is also an author, writing her own novel titled Bonfire. Deadline revealed she’s now working on its follow-up story.
Orphan Black: Echoes’ Synopsis
Orphan Black: Echoes is a 10-episode series set in the near future that will try to explore the scientific manipulation of human existence.
Its official synopsis read,
“It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.”
Orphan Black: Echoes’ Staff and Crew
Anna Fishko, who’s also behind The Society and Fear the Walking Dead, will serve as the new series’ creator and showrunner. She will also serve as the executive producer of Orphan Black: Echoes with the original series’ co-creator and director John Fawcett and the executive producers David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg.
Katie O’Connell Marsh, Nick Nantell, and Kerry Appleyard will also serve as the offshoot’s additional EPs.
In a statement, via TVLine, Fishko revealed she was excited to begin this new chapter in the world of Orphan Black.
“Creating a story that embraces the legacy of the original show has been so gratifying, and I’m excited for audiences to embark on a new journey that explores the big questions of what makes us who we are,” she continued. “I’m incredibly lucky to have such supportive partners in Boat Rocker, John Fawcett and AMC, and can’t wait to introduce audiences old and new to the next installment of this beloved story.”
Orphan Black: Echoes will premiere on AMC Network’s digital platform AMC+ and linear nets.
