Despite the negative critical reception of Morbius, Sony is still moving forward with their Spider-Man Universe franchise as they are working on several projects including the long-in-the-works Kraven the Hunter movie which has already reportedly started filming. Now, it looks like they have finally rounded out the ensemble as a final new cast member has joined the film.
According to Deadline, Pan star Levi Miller has been cast in Kraven the Hunter although it is unknown at this time regarding the role that he will be playing. He is joining an ensemble that already includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Russell Crowe, Fred Hechinger, Ariana DeBose, Alessandro Nivola, and Christopher Abbott. J.C. Chandor will direct the film with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach serving as producers. Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk are writing the screenplay.
The film will center on Kraven the Hunter, who is known as one of Spider-Man's adversaries in the comics. He made his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 in 1964 and is created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. It is unknown yet how the story of the film will play (especially without the presence of Spider-Man), but we can pretty much assume that it will be similar to Venom and Morbius where he will have his own solo adventure first before possibly joining the Sinister Six.
Miller made his breakthrough in the 2015 film Pan where he played Peter Pan and co-starred with Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara, and Amanda Seyfried. He also starred in the 2018 fantasy film A Wrinkle in Time and made a guest appearance in an episode of Supergirl. Last year, he lead the acclaimed Australian film Streamline.
Right now, it's hard to speculate on what role will Miller be playing in Kraven the Hunter since there are a lot of characters that they can based on in the comics. There are some who are guessing that he might be playing a younger Kraven during flashbacks. We will never know the true answer until Sony makes an official announcement or once they release a trailer.
Kraven the Hunter is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 13, 2023.
