Studio Mir has done some amazing animation work with shows like Legend of Korra and Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender. Now they've released this supposed pilot for a series called Koji and damn does it look amazing.
Here's an official description:
Koji crash lands on a colorful earth-like planet, inhabited by incredible alien creatures and hybrid animals. It's here that he meets Tako, a giant blue cat with water/ice powers, who will become his lifelong best friend. They journey together to defeat the evil spreading throughout the land, and it's up to them and a few valiant others they meet along the way to put an end to the Robot King and his mechanical army.
Though some may consider Netflix's The Dragon Prince as the spiritual successor of the Avatar franchise, it can be said that Koji is a more faithful contender. Besides the amazing animation, we have a protagonist in the form of a young boy who is best friends with a giant mammal; not to mention this show is also full of "fused" animals much like the ones in the world of Avatar.
By the looks of it, Koji is going to be an interesting mix of fantasy and sci-fi; it's just going to be a case of the show eventually getting picked up somewhere down the line. With Netflix just releasing original shows here and there, I wonder why they haven't picked this one up? The animation is stunning and the studio's track record speaks for itself.
Koji has not officially been picked up by any network.
