Jon Snow Actor Kit Harington Almost Quit Acting After Game of Thrones

It's been more than a year since the Game of Thrones finale, but until now fans are still griping about what some call the worst season in television history. Kit Harington, who had played the part of Jon Snow, had probably worked the hardest he did that season, and after all the vitriol, Harington explains that he almost quit acting.

Talking to The Telegraph, Harington explains, "It has been interesting — going through lockdown, getting over this TV show, where, by the end of it, I didn't know if I wanted to be an actor anymore." Harington had always been vocal about his feelings toward fan disappointment, and even if they didn't like the finale, Harington had always expressed how much work was put into the final season by both the cast and the crew; "I cried a lot in the last season, just out of sheer fatigue," said Harington.

Though Harington did say the role of Jon Snow took a toll on him, he still looks to be in the game moving forward. He's signed up to play the part of Dane Whitman a.k.a. the Black Knight in Marvel's Eternals film. We don't know how long he's going to be in the role, but it's likely he's attached for more than one movie. If anything, Harington is tired of playing silent, stoic heroes. He says, "Having portrayed a man who was silent, who was heroic, I feel going forward that is a role I don't want to play anymore. It is not a masculine role that the world needs to see much more of."

Catch Harington in Eternals when the film hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2021.
