Kirsten Dunst Wishes For Spider-Man 4 And Bashes On Sony’s Reboot Films

A lot of Marvel fans may be pretty pleased with Tom Holland's comicbook accurate version of Spider-Man, however it seems like Spider-Man actress Kirsten Dunst really wanted to do a fourth Spidey movie with director Sam Raimi and co-star Tobey Maguire.

Though all eyes are on Holland's upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, Dunst reveals in an interview with Variety how much she regrets her time as Mary Jane Watson was cut down to three films with Sony. Apparently the actress had really enjoyed working alongside Maguire and Raimi on Sony's first Spider-Man movies, and she felt really dismayed that the studio had decided against a fourth film.

"I wanted to be in that movie so badly. I loved it, and I wish we could have made a fourth."

The actress also isn't particularly happy with Sony's reboot films featuring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, saying:

"I don't care. Everyone likes our ‘Spider-Man.' C'mon, am I right or what? Listen, I'd rather be in the first ones than the new ones."

Dunst certainly does make a point when she says that Raimi's Spider-Man movies did much better than the Amazing Spider-Man reboots, however it's hard to imagine Sony taking up another Spider-Man film with Maguire. The studio has now moved on with Holland, and a lot of fans love the British actor's boyish charm and wit that matches with Spidey's comicbook personality.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes swinging into cinemas on June 28, 2017.
