Earlier in August this year, Kingsman fans were thrilled to hear that TSG Entertainment and 20th Century Fox was thinking of creating a shared universe for its action-comedy film series based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons' The Secret Service comics. Now, it looks like Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn for is working on upcoming prequel movie, Kingsman: The Great Game, and word has it that the filmmaker is eyeing Rachel Weisz and Brad Pitt for roles in his project.
According to a report by That Hashtag Show, Vaughn is currently in the process of preparing for his Kingsman prequel movie and the director is now looking at some very big Hollywood names to take on prominent roles in the project. Vaughn is hoping to amplify the star power of his shared universe entry, and it looks like Pitt and Weisz are major candidates for the roles that he's looking for. Word also had it that Harris Dickenson and Ralph Fiennes would be joining the project as well with Dickinson playing the young main protagonist of the film, Conrad.
Right now the project is also looking for actors to play the part of Gavrilo Princip, the assassin of Archduke Ferdinand, as well as the famous female spy, Mata Hari.
Though Vaughn hasn't given details about his project yet, word has it that The Great Game prequel is to be set during World War I featuring fictional versions of real life figures who played a major role in that historical period.
Kingsman 3 is scheduled to release November 08, 2019.
