It has been nine months now since the fifth season’s reveal, and finally, Kingdom Season 5 shared its first key visual along with three posters highlighting the show’s main characters.

While the anime’s premiere is still some time away, these new visuals are a nice treat for fans.

These also confirm that the previous voice cast members will return for the fifth season.

Though it may not be as hyped up as today’s big shounen titles, Kingdom is still a popular series, especially in Japan as the manga is a bestseller.

The Kingdom anime is made by Studio Signpost, a subsidiary of Pierrot (of Bleach, Naruto, and Black Clover fame).

While Pierrot is best known for its roster of shounen anime, Kingdom is one of the exceptions as it’s based on a seinen manga.

Even with the older target demographic, Kingdom is a huge hit as it has nearly 100 million copies in circulation as of July 2023.

Given this, it’s no surprise that the anime adaptation has continued as it’s now well over 100 episodes, with even more to come in Season 5. And for the upcoming season, the show’s main voice cast will return.

Recently, three new character visuals were highlighted, confirming Masakazu Morita (Ichigo in Bleach) will return as Xin.

Joining him is Rie Kugimiya (Kagura in Gintama) as Diao He Liao along with Yoko Hikasa (Rias Gremory in High School DxD) as Qiang Lei.

Though there’s no trailer for the new season yet, based on the character visuals, the fifth season will retain the art style of Seasons 3 and 4.

While Kingdom is arguably more popular in Japan, the anime is still a hit globally, with many anime fans loving the show’s take on Ancient China’s Warring States period.

After all, it’s an anime about Chinese history, and that’s not as common as a show about Edo period Japan.

To go along with the character visuals, another teaser visual for the fifth season was revealed, showcasing the main cast in more dynamic poses.

Kingdom Season 5 is set to premiere in January 2024 – just a year and a half after the fourth season’s end, though there’s no word yet on a specific release date for it.

The show’s previous seasons are streaming now on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
