Kingdom is a long-running anime that continues to be incredibly popular, especially in Japan. Aside from the original manga continuing to be a hot seller, the live-action film series is also getting yet another installment.

Before the new movie though, fans can look forward to the fifth season of the TV anime. To further get fans hyped up for it, two new VAs were revealed.

First up is Kenta Miyake who will voice Ba Tei. Miyake is a veteran VA whom fans best know as All Might in My Hero Academia. He is also the voice of other popular characters like Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Joining Miyake in the series is Yoshihisa Kawahara as Ryuu Tou. Kawahara is the VA of Bickslow in Fairy Tail, Pierce Aogami in A Certain Magical Index, and Katsumi Orochi in Baki.

Miyake and Kawahara will join the show’s returning cast, which includes Masakazu Morita (Ichigo in Bleach) as Xin and Yoko Hikasa (Mio Akiyama in K-On!) as Qiang Lei, among others.

The Kingdom anime began back in 2012 and has since been renewed thanks to its continuing popularity. Seasons 1 and 2 were made by Pierrot, the studio behind shows like Naruto and Black Clover.

Beginning in Season 3 though, the Kingdom anime’s production was moved to Studio Signpost.

With the change in studio came a change to 2D animation. The anime’s first two seasons had rather distracting 3DCG animation, according to some fans.

The show’s 2D animation is highlighted in the latest trailer, which you can watch here:

Also previewed in the trailer is the new opening theme Shirubebi (or Guiding Fire in English) by DeNeel. The trailer also features music by Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano (of Attack on Titan fame).

Kingdom Season 5 will premiere in Japan on January 6, 2024. As the previous seasons were streamed on Crunchyroll, it’s expected that the fifth season will also be released there in the US and other select regions.
