Kingdom Hearts 3 Begins With A Brilliant Self-Aware Joke

Kingdom Hearts 2 was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2006, so fans waited 13 years for Kingdom Hearts 3 to finally come out this week, and it looks like the developers couldn't help but include a little joke for everyone who's been playing the spinoffs that were released since then.

After watching the opening cut scene of the game, the game cuts to a black screen and the words "Kingdom Hearts" slowly fades in, then it reveals this message:

Those who have kept up with the whole series would laugh at this joke. Other than the franchise's main numbered games, there's a Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, a Kingdom Hearts χ (pronounced "key"). Plus there's also a Kingdom Hearts 0.2 and Kingdom Hearts 2.8.

Fans have been desperately waiting for the Kingdom Hearts 3 for years and now, the sequel is was also in on the joke. Once you complete the first world, you'll see a title screen for Kingdom Hearts 3, but it's hilarious that the game was going to make players wait a bit longer.
