King Charles and Prince Andrew reportedly had an important conversation before Queen Elizabeth passed away. The royal siblings, whose relationship has reportedly been hot and cold over the years, were not on the same page regarding the Duke of York's future as a senior working royal.

Years ago, Prince Andrew decided to step down from his duties after he was accused of sexual abuse. But after he reached a settlement with his accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, reports swirled that the Duke of York had hopes of returning to the royal fold.

Prince Andrew Persistently Lobbied To Return As A Working Royal Before Queen Elizabeth Died?

According to Daily Mail's Ephraim Hardcastle, Prince Andrew had been having conversations with Queen Elizabeth about his possible return. And his persistent lobbying took a toll on the late monarch. As such, King Charles had to step in.

"A source whispers that Charles had been tipped off by the Queen's senior staff that Andrew's persistent lobbying of the ailing monarch to restore him as a 'working royal' was taking its toll. Andrew knew that if his mother didn't rehabilitate him then all hope was gone," Hardcastle wrote in his column.

Prince Andrew Reportedly Blindsided By King Charles' Decision

Last week, another source told Daily Mail that Prince Andrew was blindsided by King Charles' decision not to allow him to return to his royal duties.

"Andrew was totally blindsided. He is utterly bereft. He always believed there was a way back. Naïve as it may sound, he always had hopes of regaining his position as a senior royal. At the meeting, Charles told him that he can go off and have a good life, a nice life, but that his public life as a royal is at an end," the source said.

Prince Andrew Wanted His Colonel Of The Grenadier Guards Title To Be Reinstated?

In June, reports claimed that Prince Andrew wanted his royal status to be reinstated, recognized, and respected after he was removed as a Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

"The colonelcy of the Grenadier Guards was his most coveted title and he wants it back. Having remained a Counsellor of State, he also believes he should be included at royal and state events." Most importantly for him is his status as an HRH and 'Prince of the Blood' and he feels that should be reinstated and his position recognized and respected," a source said (via Wio News).

But despite his persistent lobbying, Prince Andrew has not gotten his way because he has not been allowed to return to his royal duties. As of writing, the Duke of York remains a private citizen living at the Royal Lodge.
