Kimi ni Todoke is set to return this year, and now, fans can mark their calendars. Netflix announced that Kimi ni Todoke season 3 will be released this August.
The anime’s release window was revealed alongside a new trailer that finally gave fans a proper look at the new season. The trailer also confirmed that more of the previous cast members are returning.
Is the New Kimi ni Todoke Season a Proper Sequel?
Back in the late 2000s to the early 2010s, Kimi ni Todoke was a hugely popular anime. This is thanks to its adorable main duo and its slice-of-life elements, making it a comfy show to watch.
Even though the manga ended back in 2017, the anime has not gotten a third season. Some fans lost hope already, but then in September 2023, a third season was announced.
This isn’t the only 2000s show to get a surprise return, as Spice and Wolf also has a new anime this season. As Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf is a remake, some are wondering if Kimi ni Todoke is the same.
Thankfully for many long-time fans, this new season is a proper sequel, meaning it will continue the story of season 2.
The new season is also animated by Production I.G (of Heavenly Delusion fame) and features returning cast members.

Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 Official Trailer Highlights Voice Cast
While the anime was announced a few months ago, it is only now that fans have gotten a proper look at the anime.
This new trailer shows off clips from the third season. From the looks of it, this new season will retain the style of the original, albeit with a more modern flourish.
Also confirmed in the trailer are the new cast members, which include:
- Mamiko Noto (Mavis Vermillion in Fairy Tail) as Sawako Kuronuma
- Daisuke Namikawa (Hisoka Morow in Hunter x Hunter) as Shouta Kazehaya
- Miyuki Sawashiro (Celty Sturluson in Durarara!!) as Ayane Yano
- Yuko Sanpei (Boruto in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) as Chizuru Yoshida
- Yuichi Nakamura (Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Ryu Sanada
- Mamoru Miyano (Osamu Dazai in Bungou Stray Dogs) as Kento Miura
- Yuki Ono (Josuke Higashikata in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) as Kazuichi Arai
- Aya Hirano (Haruhi Suzumiya in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) as Ume Kurumizawa

Netflix Shares Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 August Release
Previously, the show was only confirmed to be released sometime in 2024. Finally, Kimi ni Todoke season 3 has an August 2024 release date window on Netflix worldwide.
There’s no word yet on a specific release date. Plus, there’s no info on whether all episodes will be released on the same day or if it will get a weekly release schedule.
