Breakout star Kim Min Ha dishes out a surprising revelation regarding her Pachinko co-stars and how the public reacted when they heard her speak fluent English.
Aside from her stellar performance in the Apple TV+ series, the rookie actress wowed fans with her communication skills and how she carries herself in interviews.
Ahead of the global release of Pachinko, which stars Lee Min Ho, Youn Yuh Jung, Jin Ha, Anna Sawai, and more, fans showed admiration for Kim Min Ha’s English skills.
Interestingly, the 26-year-old South Korean spilled her secret and recalled the time when she was learning the language.
Kim Min Ha Reveals Having a ‘Hard Time Studying English’
During her recent interview on SBS’ Park Ha Sun’s Cinetown, the rookie actress confessed that she struggled to learn English when she was young.
“When I was young, I had a hard time studying English. I would cry every day and hated learning the language,” she said, as obtained by Zapzee.
In addition, Kim Min Ha also shared how she “would memorize all the vocabulary in the bathroom and skip classes with tears running down” her face.
Interestingly, all her hard work paid off after she wowed the viewers with her fluent English.
Over social media, fans pointed out her confidence and the way she was able to express herself and spoke English naturally as if it was her first language.
On the other hand, her fellow lead star Lee Min Ho gained a negative response and was criticized for his poor communication skills, citing that he had to hire an interpreter throughout the interview.
Some even compared the South Korean A-lister to his newbie co-star, who could perfectly handle the interview.

Kim Min Ha on Working with Youn Yuh Jung and Lee Min Ho
From recalling how she started learning English to her experience filming Pachinko, Kim Min Ha gets honest and reveals her first impression of South Korean A-listers Lee Min Ho and Oscar-winning Youn Yuh Jung.
The rookie actress shared that she and the veteran actress “barely came across each other on set” but recalled the time when she once said hi to her when the award-winning star passed by her.
Despite being in the same series, Kim Min Ha and Youn Yuh Jung had no scenes together since they portray the same character at different time.
Kim Min Ha played the teenage Sunja while the Minari star took on the role of older Sunja.
As the interview continues, the 26-year-old actress mentioned what Youn Yuh Jung said to her during the global debut of
“When I met her at the Los Angeles Premiere, she told me that all I needed to do was pay attention to how I walked on the stage,” she said.
While the Oscar winner and Kim Min Ha barely saw each other on set, the rookie actress confessed that she was “overwhelmed” by Lee Min Ho’s presence during their production.
It was during the team’s table read when she was “starstruck” by the Hallyu star’s acting, but throughout the shoot, the actor made her feel at home,” adding, “we talked about many things while working together, such as personal affairs and roles. He would always tell me that I should act however I wanted.”
