Kim Garam had broken her silence over the school bullying issues thrown against her since before she debuted with LE SSERAFIM and after Hybe kicked her out of the group. As she maintains her innocence, the music label released a statement responding to her claims.
Kim Garam’s alleged friend posted the rookie idol’s lengthy statement on Instagram, stating the former doesn’t have a social media account. Here’s what the note says.
Kim Garam’s Statement About the School Bullying Issues
As translated by AllKpop, Kim Garam introduced herself and started her note with an apology. She explained that she didn’t have the chance to make a statement before, so it was very late.
She then admitted that she was afraid to ruin the dream she had worked hard for as an idol.
She said,
“It’s true that I was afraid that the dream, which I had been working hard for and running towards all this while, would shatter due to my past actions. But as days passed, I was even more afraid of all the criticisms targeted at me. And if I was given a chance, I definitely wanted to honestly tell my side of the story.”

She then enumerated the things she didn’t do, like never hitting anyone or using violence; never being forced to transfer; never smoking or drinking alcohol; never outcasting or bullying anyone and being just a regular student.
Kim Garam then revealed Yoo Eun Seo, her alleged victim, talked about her friends behind their backs and shared a photo of a pal who was only wearing underwear after the school violence committee.
The former LE SSERAFIM member added,
“I wanted to help my friend, so I confronted Yoo Eun Seo and ended up cursing at her in the process. Back then, I wasn’t able to recognize the difference between too much and too little, so I did not think of my actions as wrong while confronting Yoo Eun Seo. I thought that I was being loyal by helping my friend, and I simply thought that my actions were chivalrous. I was unable to recognize the seriousness of the matter. Now, looking back, I had been rather immature.”

She admitted her actions were wrong and made some mistakes, but she didn’t want to hate who she was then.
Despite everything that had happened, she vowed to work harder to have a brighter future.
She continued,
“My debut was possible because of the time that I had spent fighting for my dream. Those two weeks after my debut feels like a dream to me, but ultimately, it will become a period of time in my life that I cannot ever forget. And to the precious fans of mine who loved me and cheered me on, thank you so much. I was able to hang on because of the endless support from my fans.”
Hybe Responded to Kim Garam’s Statement
Alternatively, Hybe released its own statement to Xportsnews, via Koreaboo, to respond to Kim Garam’s speech. However, it chose to remain silent since she’s no longer under the company.
It said,
“As we have already terminated our exclusive contract with Kim Garam. We have nothing else to say because any additional comments are not appropriate [given the contractual situation].”

Kim Garam’s School Bullying Controversy
For context, Kim Garam has been accused of being a school bully even before LE SSERAFIM debuted in May. Several online communities revealed the alleged photos and other claims to prove she used to bully her fellow students.
There was even documentation that she was summoned to the Autonomous Committee for Countermeasures against School Violence for this issue. Kim Garam has vehemently denied the accusations.
